I attended my first yoga workshop held at my university. Wow! Life changer! I don't think I had ever felt such internal quiet and connection with my body. I was inspired to find a teacher. My daily commitment to the practice was not immediate but once I made yoga a weekly routine, it eventually became a way for me to feel grounded and whole, to process my fears and goals.

I have been teaching yoga since 2002, and founded Yoga in the Workplace in 2006. My practice is informed and inspired by the Alexander Technique iPAC and my second teacher training in the tradition of Krishnamacharya. I use a range of yoga tools and techniques in a practical and experiential manner, designing classes for the workforce that fit the unique needs of those individuals.

A little more about my history with yoga.... My first classes were Sivananda Yoga: a form of Hatha yoga where the training focuses on preserving the health and wellness of the practitioner through the practice of asanas (postures), deep breathing, diet, relaxation and meditation. My first teacher training was however in the Kripalu Yoga style which has a therapeutic and spiritual focus. Kripalu uses yoga concepts of inner focus, meditation, standard yoga postures, breathing techniques, and relaxation to develop a mind and body that feels safe and at peace.

In 2004, I was introduced to the Alexander Technique iPAC, a way of achieving conscious coordination of my self in movement and in thought. "The Alexander Technique is a method your can use to change your habitual patterns of coordination. It is something which you can apply to everything you do. By learning to change fundamental habits of coordination you take control over a major influence on your health, well-being and performance. (read more...)" (Tasha Miller and David Langstroth: Alexander Technique Atlantic teachers.)

Call me to talk about how you would like to move forward with your yoga practice.
